In May 2015, NEIU purchased an assessment management system called Tk20. Tk20 will assist departments in organizing their assessment efforts including, but not limited to the following tasks:
Assessment (course-based, portfolio or other types)
Mapping program goals and outcomes to college goals and university baccalaureate goals.
Reaffirmation accreditation along with any other specialized accreditations such as AACSB, CACREP, CAEP, CSWE, NASAD, and NASM.
Assessment reports can be easily generated for program use and accreditation.
TK20 will be integrated with Desire2Learn so that there is an easy and seamless interface between these 2 systems. Creating your course-based assessments on D2L will automatically be inputted and read by TK20 thus, reducing workload for faculty.
The implementation of Tk20 at NEIU will begin with select pilot departments in Fall 2015 and the goal is to have Tk20 collecting data for the HLC reaffirmation of accreditation by Summer 2016.
In addition, the College of Education will be using Tk20 for edTPA teacher candidate portfolios. Teacher candidates are required to submit a student teaching portfolio that includes lesson plans, video clips, commentaries and student work samples. For more information on edTPA, visit this website,
Tk20 has created a 3 minute video describing its function pertaining to accreditation. If you would like to watch that video,
